White Oak Floors For Your Home

White oak floors are beautiful, there is no doubt! They go great with pretty much every interior design and especially with some crazy bright coloured furniture. If you are that type of a person, who likes experimenting with styles and designs white oak floors are just for you.
The first positive feature is that they are easy to maintain and do not need a lot of covering with carpets and rugs, they are beautiful enough on their own and will give your room a new feeling. Keep in mind that it is a bit pricier, however because of the aforementioned traits, this type of flooring is quite resistant to scoffs, scratches, mold, mildew and assorted varieties of everyday wear-and-tear.

If you get tired of the colour at some point you can always change it a little bit thanks to our wood floor restoration service.

Maintaining Your Hardwood Floors

Keeping your floors clean and in good condition is an important step in general house keeping. Flooring, particularly in high-traffic areas, takes a lot of beating and you may sometimes feel as if your floors are never free from injury and insult. Everyone must have in mind some important tips when it comes to maintaining the hardwood floors.

The mortal enemies of wood is moisture and dirt; both of which will most likely settle on your floors continuously. Standing water or liquids can warp the wood and cause it to swell, so addressing spills as soon as they occur is important. Dirt-catching methods such as using entry rugs, leaving your shoes at the door and regular vacuuming and dusting can stave off tiny particles like dust and dirt that can easily scratch the floor.

To figure out the best cleaning method for your floor you need to find out how your wood floors are sealed or finished. Samples are the best way to assess what exactly is underfoot and will enable you to test cleaning solutions and methods. If you have no clue as to what exactly you have then try as best you can to determine if there is any top coat or finish. Floors treated with a urethane finish are the easiest to clean and a quick swipe of a damp cloth will do the trick.

What you need to know about Engineered Hardwood Floors

What exactly is engineered hardwood flooring?

This type of floor starts with a bottom core of pressed plywood or manufactured wood layers, and is then topped with a nicer wood veneer; this top "wear layer" is the part that's seen once installed. The invisible bottom layers make natural movement easier, which prevents buckling or warping when temps fluctuate. It also makes it more affordable.
There are a lot of options and brands out there these days; you have to find the one that has the combination of features you desire.

Engineered Wood Floor Installation

Floating: This is an increasingly popular method of installation, where the boards "float" above the subfloor vs. being affixed. Floating floors are less prone to warping than the glue down method.
Click Lock: This refers to the method of joining the boards together as they are installed over the subfloor. Individual pieces literally lock together in a special tongue and groove system. This makes for easier (and faster) installation, which you should think about if you are doing it yourself, or paying someone by the hour. If it's not a click lock floor, boards might need to be glued to each other first as they are installed.
Underlayment: This is the soft layer, usually foam or plastic, that lies between floating (not glue or nail down) hardwood flooring and the subfloor. Spend a little more on a thicker pad, and you'll reduce noise considerably. Cork is the Ferrari of underlayments.
Glue Down: With this method, the boards are glued directly to the subfloor, most likely concrete. Note that the glue itself can be expensive, so make sure to factor that into your budget. It can also be toxic, so choose carefully and plan for ventilation during installation.
Nail /Staple Down: The floor boards are nailed down to the wood subfloor. It isn't recommended for your average DIYers.

Why celebrities choose hardwood floors for their homes?

it is perfect for their homes.
According to a survey by the National Wood Flooring Association, 90 percent of real estate agents said that houses with wood floors sell faster and for higher prices than houses without wood floors.

The natural beauty, durability and warmth that hardwood floors lend to the interiors have made it the classic choice among people all over the world, not only celebrities.

  • The minimal care and maintenance of hardwood floors can help retain their elegance and beauty. Regular cleaning takes little more than sweeping and vacuuming, with occasional use of a professional wood floor cleaning product.

  • Another benefit is that wood floors are ecologically friendly.  They contribute towards a healthier home environment.  And, because wood does not collect dust and other allergens, many leading health associations agree that wood floors are the perfect choice for a healthy home.

  • The durability of hardwood floors make them easy to repair and instantly regain their natural luster and beauty.
  • Variety and uniqueness. According the National Hardwood Flooring Association, wood floors have come a long way in the past few years. Whether you're looking for traditional oak, rustic pine, exotic wenge or trendy bamboo, you're sure to find a color and style to fit your décor.

  • Over time, wood floors maintain their value. When other flooring options are looking tired and worn out, wood floors will still look beautiful and timeless.
